Blaine Auto Repair

Have always appreciated the “honest” service and overall workmanship performed at Honest 1 in Blaine. In general I don’t always appreciate how much car repairs can cost, but I can count on Brad and the team to be fair and realistic with what needs to be addressed as necessary.

Went to get my oil changed at the Blaine location and will not be returning. I previously went to the Burnsville location and really enjoyed my experience with the technicians along with how thorough of an inspection they did. They took pictures of absolutely everything inside and out of my car and gave me the status of the condition, and how every part contributed to the overall health of my car- I was blown away! I did not feel as if they were trying to sell me on repairs, rather just provided good information and assistance. My experience with the Blaine location was completely opposite. My inspection report labeled everything in excellent condition (which I know is not true due to my previous report given with picture evidence) and had only pictures of the outside of my car and dash. So pretty much they didn’t inspect my car in the slightest and told me that they only take pictures when “really necessary”. They also put in the wrong, and more expensive, oil from what I originally selected and previously received (which they had a record of) and didn’t bother telling me. I wouldn’t have had any problem if they would have asked me before hand if that was okay but felt disrespected and taken advantage of as a woman. Highly recommend the Burnsville location, highly discourage the Blaine location.

No one likes getting their vehicle repaired, or being without their vehicle, me specifically who needs a vehicle in case of emergencies which happen often enough to call them less emergencies and more eventualities. I have enjoyed their 'free' loaner car often enough that I could say they are well maintained and clean. As a big framed person leg room is often a struggle, so, if that's you, you may have issues like that in their loaners. The mention of 'free' is only if you return it as clean as you received it, which is expected, return it with a full tank, which is good manners, and return it within an acceptable time frame. Otherwise it's $50, as of the time of this review. As for their prices, they fall on the high end of cost. With that cost you do get their warrantied service, which I have had to utilize for a repair that was not done correctly. Something to note, when you schedule a time to have your vehicle serviced, do not have the expectation that it will exactly be the time of the service. There was a need for me to schedule a time specifically to have my vehicle serviced and returned to me, but the service was not completed on the day scheduled, it was completed the Monday after. Which runs contrary to the point of a schedule. At every service they will inspect your vehicle and provide you with a report via text and/or email, then ask you if you wish to proceed with the intended repair and any additional repairs that they see are important. This is good to have, because it has saved me from being shocked by damage that could have been a costly repair. It however does put the pressure on you to deal with those repairs while your vehicle is already in the shop, which adds extra cost to an already costly repair. Often I have asked for a repair, and other important repairs were noted, which as mentioned was good, but had to be pushed off until later. Something that 'rubbed me the wrong way' was that I was told I was 'nickle and dime-ing' my repairs, when I am working on a tight budget and already paying for a several hundred, nearing 2k repair. Which was not acceptable when I have returned to this shop a number of times to repair the concerning issues brought up in their inspection reports. I appreciate what you guys do, I don't appreciate being called 'cheap' when shelling out huge amounts of money. Overall, this shop is good for its added perks, but you do pay for those perks.

My 1999 Toyota Tacoma suffered an unexpected loss of brakes. Honest1 recommended a great towing company who quickly picked the truck up at my house and delivered it to the repair shop. Honest1 repaired the cause of the brake failure and had it back to me the next day. I couldn't be happier with the service I received.

Honest-1 has always been my favorite, but I was disappointed in the price of the repair I received—a $14 part that needed to be replaced cost more than $400? Within minutes, I saw somebody on YouTube replacing it!

I always know what to expect when I come here. They do a great job. They are up front and honest with their pricing and what needs to be done. They don't try to sell you things that you don't need. I highly recommend.

Honest 1 lives up to its name! They are very experienced and very understanding! I recommend them as a company that lives up to its name “Honest” and will take care of your needs promptly! The mechanics and staff are very empathetic and honest!
