I Highly recommend Honest One Auto Care of Blaine. I used to do all of my own work until I used them and their pricing is hard to beat. In addition the name is as it implies. I purchased a vehicle that had about 69k miles on it and had them do an oil change. The service technician had informed me that there was a seal leaking on the vehicle. Instead of trying to sell me on them repairing it he told me I should bring it to the dealership as it should be covered under warranty. It was covered and likely saved me a couple hundred dollars! I used to sell auto parts to commercial accounts for a nearby auto store and can tell you that Honest One in Blaine is a solid business and I would recommend them to anyone!

Please take my review for what what it's worth. Although I've been to this place twice, I've not yet had work performed by them. The first trip occurred in Jan of 2014 when I took my 5 year old Honda in for an oil change and was told the cylinder head needed to be replaced. Very serious. Very expensive. I took it elsewhere for a 2nd opinion and it turned out the head was fine, but one of the valves was stuck. That was 30,000 miles ago. More recently, I bought a used car for my teenage son for $1,500. I knew the front end needed work when I bought it. I decided to try Honest-1 again. Cost at H-1 to replace right and left strut assemblies and sway bar links was just under $1,100. I wasn't prepared to put that much into the car, so I went elsewhere and the total bill was $545. To be fair to H-1, their quote was for high-end strut assemblies at $288 each. I asked for lower-end struts at other place believing the old car wasn't in need of top line parts. The mechanic at the other place said his work and parts have same 12 month/12,000 mile warranty, so he's particular about the parts he uses, but agreed with me and chuckled at the idea of putting expensive struts on a car with so many miles on it. The lower end strut assemblies were $165 each and his labor cost was much lower. My experience with H-1 is that they are very nice and seem to have a sincere desire to service their customers. But I believe they are over-priced and urge caution when told of need for significant repairs.

A few years back I was sold unnecessary work on my 97 dodge pickup... Since I have avoided this shop until this past week. I had purchased a 99 Ford Taurus from a family member in which this vehicle had all of the regular maintenance. I wanted to get a inspection completed that day and my regular mechanic was booked. So I went to Honest-1 thinking they would be just that... Honest. Once I got into the parking lot I inspected the exterior of my vehicle along with video taped, showing no fluid leaks, unfortunately I did not get a close up on my brake lines... Once my vehicle was lifted in the air I quickly noticed a good size liquid puddle, I would say about 1/2 a quart and wondered if that was from the vehicle before. The technician brought me out to my vehicle and informed me that there was a major leak coming from the brake lines. Rather than accuse him of any wrong doing I let the technician try to sell me more unnecessary work, which included $600 for new brake lines/fluid flush. TECHNICIAN STATED THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE LINE, EVEN THOUGH THE DAMAGED PART WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CAR, SURROUNDED BY GOOD LINES TO SPLICE... In total the technician concluded I needed $2600 worth of maintenance on my vehicle. Roughly $2000 of labor. I went home and noticed now my brake lines were leaking a large amount of brake fluid. I called and spoke with a manager named Mark and informed him of the situation and asked if the technician, when inspecting a small leak accidentally caused a larger one. Mark spoke with the technician who in return said as he pulled the vehicle in the garage he noticed a large puddle of brake fluid... Mark "Older vehicles break own, and unfortunately this happened to happen as the technician pulled the vehicle into the garage.". There was really no comment to the fact that if the vehicle was indeed loosing a lot of brake fluid there would be a drip line, in which this case it was a single puddle, almost like the technician intentionally spilt brake fluid on the ground. Mark did attempt to make it right and agreed to doing $600 worth of work for $400, which I appreciated. After this encounter I took my car up to Champlin Autocare and asked them to evaluate the fluid leak. Within minutes their technician told me that I only needed partial line replacement (of the damaged area) and quoted me $250-$275 (parts and labor), I ended up going through them with my final total sitting at $246. In comparison I recommend doing some research on the auto shop before giving them your keys. Completed a second inspection at Champlin, told me my vehicle was in great running shape and recommended $0 of additional maintenance. All in all it is my own fault to give Honest-1 the benefit of the doubt, I do NOT recommend this shop.

Little miscommunication on my wife's side to them. They called quickly to clear it up. They really put the customer in customer service. These guys are awesome and really make you feel that you are the reason they do what the do. Just a great bunch of people.

Rip Off. Over priced labor and lots of cheap talk. Would highly not recommend. And I work on cars so I would know. Had them replace a rear trailing arm on my car, asked them just to match up the lengths (I've seen it done many times), of course I get the BIG SPEECH about how I'll need an alignment for sure bla bla bla bla Yuck! I get it back and what do you know, they didn't measure/match the lengths. WORST SHOP EVER. TOTALLY DISHONEST.

We are sorry that we were unable to serve you the way you wanted to be served. Tony Minwegen

I have been at the Blaine and New Brighton locations several times and have always had a good experience. Tony is always helpful and I stopped in at Blaine once and they replaced a couple fuses for my truck and did not even charge me. Where can you find a auto place like that ? Highly Recommend.

Todd, Always a pleasure to take care of you! Tony Minwegen Owner

I have been going to this facility for a number of years now and have always appreciated their honesty, and the work they have performed. If something is not right, they correct it right away, and the work they perform is of good value. I would recommend anyone to go there and I will be back for more service in the future!

Hubby's car was dropped off there on Saturday, they finally looked at it on Monday, only to tell us it needs an additional $1200 worth of work. Even though my hubby's vehicle arrived with all the needed front brakes to be installed. He was going to do the front brakes on his own, but couldn't get one of the parts off to put the new ones on. When I called to ask questions, (and informed them we were probably having it towed to the Honest-1 we normally go to) but I was still was asking questions.. so maybe we wouldn't have to have it towed. Bruce copped a HUGE ATTITUDE at me, informed me it would be ready when the AAA tow arrived & basically hung up on me. If there was a remote chance of us bringing any vehicle there for service... he killed it right then!!

Anne, Thanks for talking with me about your situation. I am sorry that we failed to serve you properly. Tony Minwegen Owner
